Air Zimbabwe is set to introduce direct flights from Harare to Masvingo, with the new service coming as the city prepares to host the 19th Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe Tourism Expo from 9 to 12 September 2026. The airline will also connect Harare with Chiredzi as tourism activity in the province increases.

According to figures released by the airline, a one-way Harare-Masvingo ticket will cost US$140 (about R2,235), while a return ticket will cost US$240 (about R3,832), based on the current exchange rate of approximately R15.97 to US$1.
The Harare-Chiredzi route will cost US$155 (about R2,475) one way. A return ticket will be US$279 (about R4,454).
Deputy Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Tongai Mnangagwa said the flights would help accommodate visitors travelling to Masvingo for the expo.
“The flights are expected to serve most of our international buyers who are coming for the expo, and most of them are coming via Robert Mugabe International Airport and will be able to connect to Masvingo City,” Mnangagwa said.
The minister also indicated that Government could explore keeping the Harare-Masvingo service beyond the tourism event.
“We will also look into the feasibility of retaining a direct air link between Harare and Masvingo even after the expo,” he said.
The expo is expected to attract 133 international buyers and 392 exhibitors. Masvingo will host the event at Gymkhana Grounds, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa expected to officially open it on 9 September.
The new flights could therefore offer visitors another way of reaching the province while putting Masvingo’s tourism attractions, including Great Zimbabwe, Kyle Recreational Park and the Lowveld, in the spotlight.
Air Zimbabwe’s new routes are being introduced ahead of a major tourism event, while the possibility of a permanent Harare-Masvingo connection could give the province a longer-term aviation link.
