Man dies after jumping onto a spinning BMW

A 26-YEAR -OLD man from Bulawayo’s Tshabalala suburb died instantly on Sunday night after he jumped onto a spinning BMW at a designated spinning arena in Tshabalala, police have confirmed.

Thabiso Nkala died at the scene after sustaining severe head injuries when he fell from the vehicle.

Bulawayo provincial police deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu confirmed the incident.

“The incident occurred on Sunday, 30 August 2026, at around 8:30PM.

“A 25-year-old man from Hillside was driving the BMW sports car with one passenger on board when Nkala reportedly jumped into the vehicle while it was performing spinning maneuvers.

“Upon jumping onto the vehicle, the now deceased fell off and sustained head injuries, which led to his death on the spot,” she said.

Police were notified and the body was quickly ferried to United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.

Police have since urged motorists and spectators at spinning events to exercise caution and to maintain a safe distance from vehicles performing stunts.

“Members of the public are warned that no amount of excitement justifies putting one’s life at risk. We also condemn the practice of jumping onto moving vehicles, hanging onto cars or standing too close to vehicles performing spinning maneuvers. Such behaviour is reckless and dangerous,” said Asst Insp Thandekile.
