Captain Smart Endorses Dismissal of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Calls It Timely and Necessary
Captain Godsbrain Smart, a broadcaster and social commentator, has endorsed the removal of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh from his ministerial role, describing accountability as an essential requirement for effective governance.
During his television programme, Captain Smart questioned Akandoh’s performance and said public officials must demonstrate their ability to carry out the duties assigned to them.
He stressed that occupying a government position should come with clear responsibilities and measurable expectations. In his view, officials who cannot meet those standards should be prepared to relinquish their positions.
The broadcaster also called for a performance-based approach to public service, arguing that decisions about government officials should focus on their achievements and ability to fulfil their mandates rather than political considerations.
His position has prompted differing reactions from the public, particularly over the appropriate standards for assessing ministers and determining whether their performance justifies their continued appointment.
The issue has also highlighted the need for transparent evaluation procedures to help governments make informed decisions about ministerial appointments and replacements.
Captain Smart urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant and hold their leaders accountable for their actions and performance. He maintained that public officials must justify the trust placed in them by delivering results that benefit the country.
His comments have further intensified discussions about government accountability, ministerial effectiveness and the importance of responsible leadership in public service.
