The parents and staff of King’s College, Lagos have raised concerns over the proposed concession of the school to the Old Boys Association, KCOBA, threatening to shelve the resumption of the next academic session.
The school is scheduled to resume September 13.
The school’s Chairman, Parents- Teachers Association (PTA), Engineer Oluwaleye Peter, stated this during a meeting before hundreds of parents hit the streets on Lagos Island to protest against the proposed concession.
The parents carried placards with inscription “King’s College is not for sale”. Beware!!!,’ “Federal Government, we say no to concession,” among others.
The chairman added that the school would not resume until the federal government breaks silence over the proposed concession.
“We will suspend resumption and we are going to court if the federal government does not say anything,” he said.
He said the intention of the old boys to take over the school would deprive a lot of children of education.
“KCOBA doesn’t have anything for this school, they want to turn it into a cash cow,” he said.
