MUTAPA Gold Resources (MGR) is hosting a golf day at Country Club Newlands in Harare today, bringing together players from the business and mining sectors for a day of competition and networking.
The event features four-ball betterball and individual Stableford competitions, with a cocktail function scheduled at the same venue this evening.
Running under the theme “Network. Compete. Connect”, the golf day is part of the mining company’s stakeholder engagement activities and includes opportunities for participating businesses to sponsor individual holes.
The event comes at a significant time for the gold miner, which is pursuing an expansion programme aimed at increasing production.
MGR, which is part of the Mutapa Investment Fund, secured US$125 million in funding in July from a consortium of local financial institutions to support expansion projects and boost production.
The company has also said it requires more than US$250 million to extend the life of its gold operations and has been pursuing additional financing for the expansion programme.
MGR owns Freda Rebecca, Shamva, Jena Mines and Elvington Mine.
