Former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue State chapter and a loyalist of George Akume Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Austine Agada has disclosed that Akume’s loyalists will teach Governor Hyacinth Alia a political lesson in 2027 governorship elections.
Speaking with journalists during the distribution of empowerment items by senator representing Benue North West senatorial District, Titus Zam held in Makurdi on Friday, Agada claimed that governor Alia had rejected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political proposal that all incumbents should get the APC return tickets.
Agada emphasised that Governor Alia has not done and given Akume’s loyalists any reason to support his re-election.
While declaring Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike as leader of the Rainbow Coalition said he has joined the coalition to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
According to Agada, “Members of the rainbow coalition cut across all the political parties. Governor Alia has not engaged the coalition and the coalition does not know him. He has not done anything to give us the reason for the coalition to adopt him or work for him. Even in our party the APC he has not given us reason to support him”
“Governor Alia has not yet given the Coalition and APC any reason to support his re-election bid. If he has not given us reason in APC to support him, he should forget it”
Agada added, “Under the leadership of SGF George Akume we held the peace meeting and Alia rejected the outcome of the meeting where President Bola Tinubu asked us to allow all incumbents to go for second term. Akume brought Mr president proposal and said you don’t say no to Mr president. So we accepted Mr president’s proposal but Alia rejected the proposal and sponsored candidates to contest against the incumbents. That shows that governor Alia has no respect for the party and Mr president the party will teach him a lesson” Agada said.
Reacting, spokesperson of APC Benue state chapter, Benedict Yawe while describing Agada’s claims as false and misleading said he wants to have power by all means.
Yawe said, “First and foremost, Austine Agada is not Benue state APC chairman and he should stop impersonating. Secondly, Agada wants to have power by all means and that is why he is always desperate if you observe his utterances. Thirdly, Agada has no power to talk about Governor Hyacinth Alia’s relationship with Mr President, they are in APC and they are working together.
“On the issue of taking party’s candidates to court, governor Alia contested his primary and won the ticket and the party returned him as APC governorship candidate in Benue State. To the best of my knowledge, governor Alia has not taken anyone to court over the primaries our party conducted. Some of the aggrieved people who went to court went on their own and have the right to do so. Agada can continue with his anti-party activities and nobody will stop him,” Yawe stated.
