Prince Harry and Meghan move children to new school over security concerns

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have moved their children, Archie and Lilibet, to another school just two days after the start of the new school year.

The decision was made after discussions between the family and their security team over the practicalities of the children’s existing arrangements, according to a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“The decision for the children to move schools was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” the spokesperson said in a September 14 statement to Hello! magazine.

Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, had already started sessions at the previous school before the change was made.

The spokesperson said Harry and Meghan remained grateful to the teachers and staff at the school for the care given to their children.

“This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there,” the spokesperson added.

The school change comes as Harry and Meghan adjust to spending more time in the United Kingdom, six years after moving to the United States and stepping back from royal duties.

However, their return to the UK is not permanent. They continue to maintain their home in Montecito, California, while spending an extended period in Britain.

King Charles III confirmed in a September 7 letter obtained by the BBC that there would be “no change” to Harry and Meghan’s status as non-working royals and that they would continue to live as “private citizens.”
