Ayawaso West MCE rallies constituents for stakeholder engagement

The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly is set to bring together residents from middle- and upper-income communities, businesses and other stakeholders to discuss development challenges confronting the municipality.

The engagement, according to the Municipal Chief Executive, Michael Mensah, is intended to complement the Assembly’s existing engagements across the municipality’s 13 electoral areas.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr Mensah said while the Assembly had engaged communities across the electoral areas, participation from middle- and upper-income groups had been limited.

He said the upcoming meeting is therefore designed to provide a platform for such groups, particularly businesses, to directly engage the Assembly on issues affecting them.

“I have already engaged all 13 electoral areas, but you don’t really get the middle and the upper income group participating,” he said.

“So this is to bring all of them together to discuss and see how best we can resolve some of the challenges.”

According to the MCE, the meeting is not intended as an accountability session but rather an opportunity for stakeholders to share their concerns and work with the Assembly towards practical solutions.

“It is not an account but for people to share whatever they have and tell the Assembly to handle the challenges and how best we can resolve it,” he said.

He noted that businesses will also be part of the engagement, stressing that such direct consultations with the groups are not usually held.

Mr Mensah said the Assembly has sent invitation cards to prospective participants and followed up with them, with stakeholders indicating their readiness to attend.

The engagement is scheduled for September 29 at 9:00 a.m. at the Best Western Premier Hotel.
