Alan Pillay, who served in the Presidency under both Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki and later became a trusted personal assistant to Mbeki, has died at the age of 58.
Alan Pillay, who served in the Presidency under Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki before becoming Mbeki’s personal assistant, has died at 58 after a period of illness. His funeral is expected to take place in Isipingo on 5 September 2026.
