Gqeberha police are investigating a case of murder after the body of a local businesswoman was found with multiple gunshot wounds in Motherwell.

Police Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says Anathi Maguga, 29, was last seen by her family on Thursday afternoon last week, when she received a phone call and left her home in New Brighton.

He says her family opened a missing persons docket after she was not home the following morning and did not answer her phone.

Police and members of the Motherwell community assisted in the search for Maguga, who runs her own bakery business.

Police discovered her vehicle abandoned in Dabadaba Street in NU5, and her body was subsequently discovered in the bushes at NU29.

Any person with information that can assist police can contact the Investigating Officer, Detective Lieutenant Ntshangase, at 079 302 6676
