“A Wise Woman Builds Her Own Home”: Kenyans React to Agnes Kavindu’s New Mansion Metres From Muthama

Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu has unveiled her newly completed mansion, hosting a thanksgiving ceremony attended by Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other invited guests.

The senator celebrated the milestone on Saturday, November 1, bringing together friends and political associates to give thanks for her new home, an impressive two-storey cream-and-white villa.

The mansion has attracted considerable attention, particularly because of its location just metres from the former matrimonial home she once shared with businessman Johnson Muthama.

Kalonzo was among those who attended the ceremony and later shared photos from the event on his official Facebook page.

Describing the occasion as joyful, the Wiper leader congratulated Kavindu, noting that her new home represented faith, hard work and the goodwill of those around her.

He also quoted Psalm 127:1 while wishing the senator a lifetime of peace, happiness and God’s blessings.

Beyond the celebration, the mansion has revived memories of Kavindu’s difficult past with Muthama, with whom she previously shared a matrimonial home.

Their relationship reportedly deteriorated, leading to a bitter dispute over the property. Kavindu had accused the businessman of making her life difficult, including allegedly disconnecting essential services such as water and electricity.

The disagreement eventually ended up in court, where the ruling favoured Muthama. He later reportedly converted the former residence into an events garden.

Interestingly, Kavindu chose to establish her new home on an elevated plot close to the former matrimonial property, attracting reactions from Kenyans on social media.

The newly built residence features a spacious upper-floor balcony, elegant white columns, cream-coloured exterior walls and tall windows.

Its architectural design also includes decorative grey-blue railings surrounding the balcony and rooftop terrace. The house sits on elevated ground, with a landscaped compound featuring flowering plants and small trees.

Several social media users praised the senator for building her own home, while others questioned her decision to settle so close to her former matrimonial residence.

The mansion’s unveiling has since generated conversations about independence, resilience and moving forward after difficult personal experiences.
