By White Luhanga A man of unknown age has been bashed to death by two armed robbers who stole his white Toyota Land Cruiser in Nakonde District valued at 1.5 million Kwacha. Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer LUBINDA MAYAMBA has confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as CHATOWA SILUNGWE. Mr. MAYAMBA says the incident happened on September 4, 2026, around 22:00 hours in Katozi Village, Chief Waitwika’s area in Nakonde. Mr. MAYAMBA says the deceased sustained a cut to the back of the head and bruises to the legs and hands, with a knife having been used during the attack. He says on September 4, 2026, around 21:30 hours, the deceased returned home from Nakonde Customs Yard, where he had gone to clear the vehicle so that he could deliver it to its owner, a businessman from Lusaka. He says while the deceased was in the bathroom, the two unknown men entered the house and demand for the car keys. Mr MAYAMBA said the deceased chased after the vehicle in an attempt to prevent the suspects from stealing it, but he was hit by the vehicle. He was rushed to Nakonde Urban Clinic, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Mr. MAYAMBA says police officers who visited the scene found that the vehicle had been parked in front of the house and observed tyre prints from where it had been parked. No arrests have been made and the stolen vehicle has not yet been recovered. The body has since been deposited in the mortuary awaiting postmortem while investigations into the matter have been instituted.
