Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Planter, Christ Apostolic Church Adamimogo, Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain Worldwide, Prophet Sam Olu-Alo, has urged Nigerians to be wary of politicians who frequently change their positions and promises.
The cleric urged Nigerians to scrutinise the records and credibility of candidates before casting their ballots.
Speaking in Lagos on Sunday at the end of his church’s annual prayer, fasting and empowerment programme tagged “Sure Mercy of David”, the religious leader advised voters to assess candidates based on their past performance, character and consistency, and not campaign promises.
“We must be wary so that we don’t fall into the hands of wrong or inconsistent politicians,” he said.
Olu-Alo noted that politicians who fail to keep their word after gaining public office should not be blindly trusted with another mandate.
The cleric called on Nigerians to exercise their franchise responsibly and demand accountability from political leaders.
“I am urging Nigerians to ask our governors, representatives at all levels, the state and federal levels, the same question. They need to present their scorecards,” he said.
He stressed that voters have a crucial role to play in determining the quality of governance by choosing candidates who demonstrate genuine commitment to public service.
Speaking on the annual empowerment programme, Olu-Alo said, “Thousands were trained during the programme, and we are happy that we’re able to do this. We made sure we empowered those who have excelled in the training.”
Speaking at the event, the regional superintendent of the CAC, Essien Region, Pastor Isaac Eyebiokin, commended the cleric for the yearly prayer service and his philanthropic endeavour.
Eyebiokin said, “This prayer is very important, especially praying for our country and for our leaders. They need our prayers. And we pray may the good Lord continue to be with our Prophet Olu Alo. What he is doing is good for this country and for the leaders and followers.”
