More Details About The Scams of Life Surge Event Emerges

Life Surge has faced years of criticism from people identifying themselves as former attendees on Reddit, with some describing the Christian conference and financial education business as a “scam” and alleging that inexpensive events were used to funnel customers toward investment courses costing tens of thousands of dollars.

The allegations appear in a lengthy discussion on the r/Christian subreddit that began with a post titled “Is Life Surge Christian conference a scam? Are the classes they sell a scam? Is it prosperity teaching? Is it an MLM?”

While numerous contributors described negative experiences, other Reddit users strongly defended Life Surge, saying they received useful education, encountered no pressure to purchase additional products and considered their events worthwhile.

The conflicting accounts provide a glimpse into the controversy surrounding the company as its association with prominent Christian personalities, including former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, receives greater scrutiny.

Reddit Thread Raises Questions About Life Surge

The original Reddit poster said they attended a Life Surge conference in Las Vegas after initially being excited about participating in a Christian gathering.

According to the account, VIP tickets were believed to cost roughly $300 to $500 and included closer seating and opportunities to take photographs with some speakers.

The attendee said concerns began emerging as speakers repeatedly discussed Trade Surge and Real Estate Surge, financial education programmes being offered to participants.

The Reddit user claimed attendees were repeatedly encouraged to register for a three-day stock education programme, with a real-estate course included as an additional offer.

The poster eventually enrolled but said the experience became increasingly troubling as more expensive products were introduced.

Attendee Says $197 Course Led to Offers Approaching $30,000

According to the original poster, approximately 150 people attended the subsequent Trade Surge programme at the Westin Lake Las Vegas.

The Reddit user said the first day covered stocks while the second moved into options trading.

However, the attendee complained that introductory information was not explained in sufficient depth and alleged that participants were given enough information to generate interest before being offered more extensive training.

The poster claimed the next stage of courses and coaching was priced at approximately $13,997 for the least expensive option and about $30,000 at the upper end.

The attendee ultimately concluded that the programme was structured primarily to generate additional sales rather than provide the financial education they had expected.

Refund Request Allegedly Led to Attendee Being Removed

The original poster also described a dispute after asking how to obtain a refund.

According to the account, a coach initially appeared uncertain whether refunds were available despite the attendee claiming the contract contained a refund provision.

A manager subsequently asked the attendee to leave the programme and instructed them to contact the company for a refund, the Reddit user alleged.

The poster said repeated calls initially went unanswered before someone responded when a different telephone number was used.

According to the account, the company representative then said a refund cheque would be mailed.

The attendee ultimately advised other Christians to stay away from the classes, accusing Life Surge of using Christian messaging around a business model designed to sell additional financial products.

Portland Attendee Alleges Gospel Message Was Connected to Products

Other people identifying themselves as Life Surge attendees subsequently added their own experiences.

One Reddit user who said they attended a Portland, Maine, event wrote that they would not recommend Life Surge despite enjoying the worship component.

The commenter alleged that speakers connected themes involving the Gospel, family, wealth and meaning with the company’s products.

They also claimed the ultimate objective appeared to be moving customers into follow-up seminars where considerably more expensive trading and real-estate education could be promoted.

The attendee characterised the sales environment as high pressure and argued that the educational material did not justify the approach.

However, the same commenter stopped short of claiming Life Surge’s representatives were necessarily insincere, instead arguing that the sales techniques themselves were unhealthy.

Reddit User Claims $59 Monthly Charge Was Not Authorized

Another contributor made an even more serious allegation involving their credit card.

The Reddit user claimed they initially supplied their card information to pay $97 for a three-day course but subsequently discovered recurring $59 monthly Trade Surge membership charges that they said they had not authorized.

The commenter said Life Surge declined to issue a refund, prompting them to dispute the transactions with their credit card company.

That person also alleged that the three-day programme ultimately promoted courses priced between approximately $20,000 and $40,000.

These allegations are based on the Reddit user’s account and the material provided does not independently establish whether the disputed charges were unauthorized.

Milwaukee Attendee Says Event Appeared Designed to Sell Next Course

Another Reddit contributor said they attended a Life Surge gathering in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and quickly concluded that promoting a three-day programme was a major focus of the event.

The commenter expressed particular disappointment that prominent Christian speakers were participating.

They alleged that different speakers appeared to take turns encouraging attendees to purchase additional classes and said they eventually left the conference shortly after lunch.

Other contributors similarly questioned whether well-known Christian personalities understood the complaints surrounding the programmes they were appearing alongside.

Some Attendees Claim Courses Could Cost $30,000 or More

Another commenter accused Life Surge of targeting vulnerable people and claimed customers could face commitments of roughly $30,000.

The user alleged that some people had spent between $30,000 and $40,000 on the programmes and argued that the company should face greater scrutiny.

A separate contributor who said they attended a Real Estate Surge programme described discussions about using credit cards and debt as leverage for property investment.

That attendee said a loan officer was introduced who could potentially assist customers with financing courses.

The commenter said they personally would not pay between approximately $19,000 and $37,000 for the additional education and worried that some participants could accumulate debt without ultimately achieving the financial results they expected.

Christian Branding Becomes Central to Criticism

Religion repeatedly emerged as one of the most sensitive elements of the discussion.

Several commenters said their concern was not simply that Life Surge sold additional products at its events, but that Christian worship, biblical messages and respected Christian personalities could create additional trust among attendees.

One participant who had been considering attending an event said reading the complaints changed their mind.

Another said seeing advertisements for an upcoming Life Surge gathering prompted them to search Reddit because they were concerned about organisations potentially exploiting people’s religious faith.

Those reactions illustrate why the involvement of famous Christian speakers has become an important part of the wider debate surrounding Life Surge.

Not Every Life Surge Attendee Agrees With the Criticism

The Reddit discussion is far from universally negative.

One contributor who attended an event in Philadelphia strongly defended the experience, saying the $20 admission price was worthwhile simply for the motivational speakers, Christian worship and opportunity to hear figures connected with the Philadelphia Eagles.

That commenter acknowledged that additional products were offered but compared the sales process with attending a timeshare presentation in exchange for another benefit.

The user also said their son completed the three-day stock classes and described the family’s overall religious experience positively.

Another Customer Says TradeSurge Was Informative and Pressure-Free

A different Reddit contributor directly rejected accusations that TradeSurge was a scam.

The person said they had completed the three-day programme and found it informative.

According to that attendee, nobody pressured participants into purchasing additional products, and customers were simply presented with opportunities to continue their education if they wanted.

When challenged by other users, the commenter doubled down on that account, insisting that their personal experience involved “zero pressure” to buy or register for anything.

That sharply contrasts with accounts from other participants who described aggressive attempts to move customers toward increasingly expensive programmes.

Reddit Accounts Paint Two Very Different Pictures of Life Surge

Taken together, the Reddit discussion presents sharply competing versions of what happens inside Life Surge and its associated financial education programmes.

Critics describe a sales funnel beginning with relatively inexpensive Christian conferences, followed by affordable introductory financial classes and eventually offers for programmes costing five figures.

Some claim they encountered discussions about credit cards, loans or other forms of borrowing to finance further education.

Supporters, however, say additional purchases are optional and argue that attendees can receive motivational, religious and financial value without spending thousands of dollars.

The Reddit posts therefore should not be treated as proof that Life Surge is fraudulent. They are individual accounts from people claiming to have attended or interacted with the organisation, and the experiences described vary substantially.

What the discussion does demonstrate is that concerns about Life Surge’s sales model did not begin with the latest scrutiny surrounding Tim Tebow.

Attendees have been publicly debating the company’s combination of Christian messaging, celebrity speakers, financial education and increasingly expensive programmes for years — with some calling the experience valuable and others warning fellow Christians to stay away.
