Yobe Provides Over 800 Free Dialysis Sessions Monthly For Kidney Patients
The Yobe State Government is providing more than 800 free dialysis sessions monthly to patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) through the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH), easing the financial burden of accessing specialised treatment.
The Chief Medical Director of YSUTH, Prof. Baba Waru Goni, disclosed this on Wednesday while presenting the hospital’s progress report to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Mohammed Goje.
Prof. Goni said the intervention reflects Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to improving access to specialised healthcare and ensuring that patients requiring regular dialysis receive essential treatment without the burden of prohibitive costs.
He added that the hospital also provides magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) scan services at affordable rates, attracting patients from across the North-East and other parts of the country.
Responding, Goje commended the hospital’s management and medical personnel for their contributions to healthcare delivery, assuring them of the state government’s continued support.
He said the free dialysis programme demonstrates the administration’s commitment to citizens’ welfare, particularly patients with chronic illnesses who face the high cost of frequent medical treatment.
The SSG urged the hospital management to sustain the progress recorded, ensure the effective use of available resources and maintain professional standards in delivering quality healthcare services.
He also called for improved operational efficiency and strategic partnerships to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide specialised medical care.
Goje reaffirmed the Buni administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare institutions and expanding access to affordable medical services across the state.
