The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) maintains a solid grip as Kenya’s most popular political party, commanding 32 percent support nationwide according to a fresh survey by Politrack Research.
The poll, conducted between September 15 and 25, 2026, sampled potential voters across the country to gauge party preferences as key political figures position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Key Survey Findings
- UDA Leads the Pack: At 32 percent, the ruling party’s popularity nearly triples that of its closest individual competitor.
- Battle for Second Place: The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, placed second with 11.7 percent. The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) followed closely at 10.6 percent.
- Statistical Tie: With a 1.1 percentage point difference, DCP and ODM sit within the poll’s reported margin of error.
- Legacy Parties: Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party secured fourth place at 6.9 percent, while Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party recorded 5.6 percent.
- Coalition Brands: Broad alliance labels, including Kenya Kwanza and Azimio, picked up 3.5 percent and 3.2 percent, respectively.
- Minor Parties: KANU and the Amani National Congress (ANC) each registered 0.6 percent, with FORD-Kenya capturing 0.5 percent. Unlisted entities grouped under “Others” accounted for 6.1 percent.
Emerging Dynamics and Strategic Shift
The survey highlights a changing political landscape as established parties reorganize and newer entities carve out their spaces.
DCP continues to expand its footprint nationwide, positioning itself as a central player in the upcoming 2027 contest. At the same time, ODM is charting its strategic direction and navigating potential alliance talks following the loss of long-time leader Raila Odinga.
Crucially, the survey reveals a vast undecided block. Combined, respondents who preferred not to answer (9.1 percent), supported no party (7.3 percent), or remained unsure (2.3 percent) total 18.7 percent of the electorate. This uncommitted voter base offers significant opportunity for party organizers as grassroots mobilization and coalition negotiations gather pace in the coming months.
Survey Methodology
Politrack conducted the research using a text-based platform, inviting sampled users to answer questions at their convenience. The study gathered responses from 20,419 participants nationwide, delivering a 95 percent confidence level with a margin of error of ±3 percent.
