Burst pipe disrupts water supply in Pretoria CBD and nearby suburbs
Tshwane says a burst pipe behind the Gautrain Station has interrupted water supply in parts of central Pretoria. Tankers are being arranged, with no restoration time yet.
A burst water pipe has interrupted supply to parts of central Pretoria and nearby suburbs, the City of Tshwane said on Monday evening.
The city said the damaged 1,000mm HDPE pipe is behind the Gautrain Station. Its repair team was on site excavating to expose the pipe and preparing to carry out repairs.
The affected areas listed in the notice are Pretoria CBD near Bosman Station, Sunnyside, Arcadia, Bryntirion, Eastwood, Lisdogan Park and Balmoral.
No estimated restoration time was available when the notice was issued. The municipality said it would provide an update once more information had been confirmed.
Water tankers were being arranged to assist affected residents. Collection points had not yet been confirmed and would be communicated separately, the city said.
Tshwane urged customers who still had water to store enough for essential use and use it sparingly.
