TVS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd is stepping up its investment in technical skills development with the opening of its second TVS Knowledge Centre in Ragama, expanding access to specialised training for motorcycle and three-wheeler technicians, garage mechanics and aspiring automotive professionals across Sri Lanka.
The new facility aims to conduct more than 20 training programmes and train over 450 participants each month, strengthening the industry’s capacity to meet the growing demand for skilled technicians, advanced diagnostic expertise and higher customer service standards.
Speaking at the opening, Mr Geethal Anthony, Chief Executive Officer of TVS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, said the Knowledge Centers are designed to strengthen technical capabilities and professional competencies across the industry, while improving service delivery across sales, servicing and spare parts operations.
“Our main TVS Knowledge Center in Colombo 14, which is approved by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), already provides structured training for technicians, sales and service personnel, as well as young people aspiring to enter the industry. With the opening of the Ragama centre, we are extending these opportunities to three-wheeler garage mechanics as well, broadening our contribution to skills development across the sector,” he said.
Mr. Lasantha Gunawardena, Deputy General Manager – Human Resources & Administration at TVS Lanka, highlighted that the new centre would further strengthen the company’s commitment to developing technical talent and building professional capabilities across the industry.
According to Mr Ranganath Vidanapathirana, Senior Manager – Training & Development at TVS Lanka, the Ragama facility marks a further expansion of the company’s training reach across both two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments. TVS ONE FORCE, a recently launched, three-level, assignment-driven development programme for the company’s sales force, is designed to deepen industry knowledge, strengthen practical skills and prepare personnel to respond to evolving market demands.
A significant milestone in the TVS Knowledge Centre’s development has been its TVEC approval to offer NVQ Level 4 qualifications, marking what the centre identifies as the first recognised NVQ Level 4 programme introduced by a company operating in Sri Lanka’s motorcycle and three-wheeler industry.
Established in Colombo 14 in 2024, the first TVS Knowledge Centre provides authorised dealers, private garage mechanics, employees and industry stakeholders with structured training in technical and product knowledge, servicing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, emerging technologies, sales, entrepreneurship and professional development.
The new Ragama facility builds on this foundation with modern technical tools and dedicated training facilities covering motorcycle and three-wheeler systems, servicing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, next-generation technologies, product knowledge and customer service. The centre also plans to introduce NVQ programmes for three-wheeler technicians in the future.
To strengthen industry relevance, TVS Knowledge Centre will collaborate with VTA training centres, German Tech, technical colleges, military technical training programmes and other educational institutions, providing students with practical and workplace-based learning opportunities.
The new centre will serve a broad cross-section of the industry, including TVS employees, authorised dealers, independent garage technicians and young people seeking to build careers in the automotive sector.
As motorcycle and three-wheeler technologies evolve, demand is growing for professionals with modern technical, diagnostic and customer service skills. Through its expanding Knowledge Centre network, TVS Lanka aims to bridge this skills gap, build a future-ready workforce and advance Sri Lanka’s motorcycle and three-wheeler industry.
