The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- has resolved to hold a fresh Parliamentary election for Mandevu Constituency, of Lusaka District . The decision follows a serious security incident that occurred during the aggregation of the National Assembly election results for Mandevu Constituency, following the General Elections held on 13th August 2026. ECZ Chief Electoral Officer BROWN KASARO says the Commission received an official report from the Lusaka District Electoral Officer, dated August 18th 2026, indicating that unknown individuals attacked the totalling centre in Mandevu Constituency. The Individuals destroyed the result transmission kits, and fled with all the documentation rendering the returning officer incapable of declaring the results of the National Assembly election. Mr. KASARO has told ZNBC NEWS in a statement that the commission has resolved to hold a by-election for Mandevu Constituency on a date to be communicated in due course.
