Nigeria’s Beach Soccer hopes dashed as Ghana complete 10-7 aggregate victory

Ghana’s Black Sharks have qualified for the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal after defeating Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles 7-4 in the second leg of their qualifying tie in Keta.

The victory gave Ghana a 10-7 aggregate triumph over Nigeria, securing their place at the continental championship and ending the Super Sand Eagles’ hopes of qualifying for the tournament.

Playing on home sand in Keta, the Black Sharks delivered an impressive attacking performance to overcome the Nigerian side and confirm their qualification for the competition in Senegal.

Nigeria entered the return leg hoping to overturn the deficit from the first encounter, but Ghana’s four-goal margin of victory proved decisive in the two-legged contest.

The result represents a major disappointment for the Super Sand Eagles, who had hoped to secure a place at the continental showpiece and reassert Nigeria’s position in African beach soccer.

For Ghana, the qualification marks a significant achievement as the Black Sharks prepare to represent their country against the continent’s leading beach soccer nations.

With qualification secured, the Black Sharks will now focus on preparations for the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal, where they will aim to build on their impressive performance against Nigeria.

The tournament will provide an opportunity for Ghana to test themselves against Africa’s best teams and compete for continental honours.

For Nigeria, the defeat raises questions about the team’s preparations and performance as the country misses out on another opportunity to compete at the continental level.
