Langabel advises Kurt Okraku to vacate GFA presidency after two terms

Langabel, the Chief Drummer and Motivator of the Black Stars, has advised Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku not to seek re-election, arguing that he has already served two terms and should make way for new leadership.

According to Langabel, Okraku has had his opportunity to lead the association and should voluntarily step aside rather than pursue another term in office.

“I will advise Kurt Okraku to vacate his position because he has already served two terms, and we need new leadership,” Langabel said.

He argued that the leadership of the GFA should be determined through elections and that, having secured two terms, Okraku should now allow another person to take over the administration of Ghana football.

Langabel also referred to the period of normalisation that preceded the return to an elected GFA administration, saying the process was intended to give football stakeholders the opportunity to choose leaders through elections.

He maintained that Okraku has now completed the two terms for which he was elected and should recognise that it is time for a change in leadership.

“After that, eight years, your term is reached. Now, he himself, when he reached that time, he’s supposed to come out to say that, ‘Oh, my term is through,’ then we will let somebody new come through an election,” he said.

Langabel further expressed concern about the tension surrounding criticism of the GFA leadership, urging Okraku to take the concerns being raised about his administration into consideration.

He said he is empathetic towards Kurt who has been a victim of insults, curses and threats following poor performance of the Black Stars.
