…Warn against sales and distribution of illicit drugs
In its sustained crackdown on sales and distribution of illicit drugs in the State, operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested six suspects in Agbor and recovered illicit drugs from them.
Bright Edafe, Spokesman of the Command, noted that the names and ages of the arrested suspects included Anabel Haruna (18), Terhemen Faith (19), Kaityo Abigail (23), Iorkee Eunice (26), Osomuri Emmanuel (31), and a 15-year-old female juvenile whose identity was withheld.
He said that operatives of the Command’s Department of Operations made the arrests and recoveries while on routine patrol along Alegwe Street, off Owa Road, Agbor.
According to him, they acted on credible intelligence and raided a store suspected to be used for the sale of illicit drugs.
“A subsequent search of a vehicle linked to the suspects led to the recovery of quantities of Tramadol, Rohypnol and other suspected illicit substances”, he revealed, adding that the suspects and exhibits were in custody while investigation was ongoing.

He said that the latest development was in furtherance to the marching order by Samuel Erale, the state Commissioner of Police (CP)
Erale warned that the command will continue to identify and dismantle drug distribution networks operating within the state, he further disclosed, noting that the proliferation of illicit drugs fuels violent crime and other forms of criminality.
“He further directed operatives across the command to intensify intelligence gathering and enforcement against drug dealers and their networks, stressing that Delta State would not be allowed to become a safe haven for illicit drug trade or any form of criminal enterprise”, Edafe concluded.
