Nigerian Actors Take A Day To Read My Scripts, But Ghanaian Actors Don’t Even Answer Calls – LilWin

Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has explained why he enjoys working with Nigerian actors, pointing to what he considers their high level of commitment and professionalism in film production.

According to a report by BBC Ghana on Friday, October 2, 2026, the popular Kumawood star shared his experiences with actors from both countries, highlighting the differences he has observed in their approach to movie projects.

LilWin praised Nigerian performers for the seriousness they demonstrate when approached for acting roles. He explained that their attitude towards scripts, contractual agreements and production schedules has influenced his decision to collaborate with them on several projects.

The filmmaker noted that some Nigerian actors respond quickly when they receive offers to participate in a movie. According to him, an actor can receive a script, review its contents, agree to the proposed conditions and sign a contract within the same day.

He suggested that this level of readiness makes it easier for filmmakers to organise their productions and avoid unnecessary delays.

However, LilWin expressed frustration with the difficulties he sometimes encounters when trying to engage Ghanaian actors for available roles.

He claimed that reaching some local performers during the casting process can be challenging, as calls and messages may go unanswered for extended periods. Such communication delays, he explained, can affect production schedules and make it difficult for filmmakers to plan effectively.

His comments have sparked discussions about professionalism and working practices within Ghana’s and Nigeria’s movie industries.

The remarks have also drawn attention to important aspects of filmmaking, including punctuality, effective communication, commitment to assigned roles and respect for contractual agreements.

While LilWin shared his observations based on personal experiences, his comments do not necessarily reflect the conduct of every actor in either country.

Nevertheless, his statements have renewed conversations about the differences between the two entertainment industries, particularly considering Nigeria’s larger film market and its influence across Africa.

The discussion has also raised questions about how actors, producers and filmmakers can strengthen their working relationships to improve efficiency and competitiveness.

As the debate continues, LilWin’s experience highlights the importance of professionalism and mutual respect in ensuring that film projects are completed successfully and within planned schedules.
