Ruto Says He Has Delivered on 2022 Promises, Challenges Kenyans to Judge His Performance
President William Ruto expressed strong confidence in his administration’s performance, maintaining that his team has fulfilled its key 2022 campaign promises as he targets a second term in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at a roadside rally in Tinderet, Nandi County, the Head of State highlighted key progress in infrastructure, public health, education, and social development. He noted that his leadership remains firmly on track to transform the nation and realize its ambitious economic goals.
“We can proudly say we are implementing a plan Kenyans voted for. Our manifesto on infrastructure, universal health coverage, education, and health is on course,” he said.
Reaffirming his readiness to face voters at the ballot box, President Ruto asserted that his administration welcomes public scrutiny based on its delivery record.
“I can confidently face the people of Kenya and tell them what I agreed with them; we have delivered,” he said.
“I am ready for next year for the people to judge our administration based on the basis of the commitment we made because we said we are going to transform the nation.”
Dismissing Opposition Slogans and Criticism
Addressing political critics, President Ruto dismissed the United Opposition as a minor hurdle, attributing their attacks to “raw jealousy” rather than constructive policy debate. He urged opposition leaders to move past political chants and present concrete solutions to address the daily challenges facing Kenyans.
“Those others, look for something to do. Too much noise and calling me names will not help you. The biggest thing they have done is come up with slogans like ‘Kasongo’ and sing to me ‘one term’ and ‘Kasongo Must Go’. Wale watu watakipata (Those people will face the consequences),” Ruto said.
“All they are selling us is raw jealousy,” Ruto said, adding that the opposition was troubled by interventions his administration had introduced to ease economic pressure on Kenyans.
Key Milestones Driven by Government Reforms
To demonstrate tangible progress, President Ruto pointed to several flagship initiatives aimed at economic recovery and public welfare:
- Healthcare Services: Enrolling 33 million citizens under the Social Health Authority (SHA) to guarantee universal healthcare access.
- Agricultural Support: Lowering input costs through targeted fertilizer subsidy programs.
- Infrastructure & Energy: Expanding nationwide road networks and rural electrification connectivity.
- Housing Development: Delivering sustainable communities through affordable housing projects.
“That is the genesis of their annoyance. That is where their jealousy begins, but I want to tell them your jealousy not withstanding; Kenya is going to move forward in unity.”
North Rift Regional Tour
The president’s address in Tinderet formed part of an extensive development tour across six North Rift counties: Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, and Baringo.
The regional tour will culminate in the national Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20 at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, where President Ruto will preside over the official festivities.
