Midlands EMS spokesperson Roland Robertson said emergency crews responded to the first crash on Saturday night.
“On arrival, it was established that the pedestrian had sustained fatal injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the patient was declared deceased on scene,” Robertson said.
On Sunday night, Midlands EMS crews were dispatched to another pedestrian accident in the same area, approximately 200m from Saturday night’s crash.
A second pedestrian was found with critical injuries.
“Paramedics immediately assessed and treated the patient on scene before stabilising them for transport. The patient was then transported to hospital for further medical care,” Robertson said.
The two crashes occurring within such close proximity on consecutive nights have highlighted the dangers faced by pedestrians walking along or attempting to cross the N3, particularly after dark.
