Lyle Foster is reportedly closing in on a move to the MLS as the Bafana Bafana striker looks for regular game time away from Burnley.
Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster is set to leave Burnley and make a move to Major League Soccer (MLS).
The 25-year-old joined Burnley in 2023 and featured in the Premier League with the club before they were relegated last season.
According to The Athletic, Foster is set to join MLS side Houston Dynamo on loan. The deal will run until next season, with Dynamo having a $7 million option to make the move permanent.
The publication also reports that Foster completed his medical on Tuesday. Should the transfer go through, he will not occupy a designated player spot at the MLS club.
Foster will join his Bafana Bafana teammate Mbekezeli Mbokazi in the United States as he looks to revive his career and get regular playing time.
The striker leaves Turf Moor having made 99 appearances for Burnley, contributing 12 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.
Foster struggled for goals last season, scoring just a handful as Burnley were relegated to the Championship. He also featured only once for Bafana Bafana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the team reached the last 32.
With new Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane now in charge, Lyle Foster will be hoping regular football in MLS can help him rediscover his form and earn his place back in the national team’s starting XI.
At 25, he still has more years in him to play for the national team and perhaps a move to the MLS might see him rediscover his form and score goals.
