Governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has downplayed the influence of the Rainbow Coalition led by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, insisting that his political movement remains unshaken.
Speaking at the unveiling of his manifesto and campaign roadmap, Reset Rivers State, in Buguma City, Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Lulu-Briggs said the coalition “has already lost its colour” and represents less than seven percent of the state’s population.
“I am not bothered about any form of coalition. I know that the rainbow has already lost its colour. Our people should have confidence in their ability to achieve the utmost,” he declared.
Lulu-Briggs pledged that if elected governor, he would forgo salaries and allowances, channeling his monthly pay to support widows and the less privileged.
He promised to emulate his party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, by running an administration anchored on transparency, accountability, and personal sacrifice.
“When we have the opportunity to manage government resources, every penny will be accounted for. I will not even be asking for any salary. Every month, any salary will go into assisting one widow or the other,” he said.
The candidate also vowed to rebuild trust between citizens and government, describing the current deficit as “frightening.”
His campaign agenda includes resetting Rivers State’s economy, governance, and access to opportunities.
“Just give us your support, give us your prayers. Let’s navigate this mucky waters of Rivers politics and we reset Rivers State,” Lulu-Briggs urged.
