Eswatini brace for hosts Zambia in Zone VI test

MBABANE-Eswatini face hosts Zambia tomorrow as they continue their historic campaign at the IHF Nations Trophy Zone VI tournament at the Olympic Youth Development Centre.

The match, scheduled for 4pm, will be Eswatini’s second Group A assignment after their opening encounter against Namibia today.

The clash against Zambia presents another stern examination for the Senior Handball Team, who are competing in their first senior tournament in the Zone.

Eswatini have been drawn in a four-team Group A alongside hosts Zambia, Namibia and South Africa, while Group B features Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Lesotho.

The group stage runs from Tuesday to Thursday, with the top sides progressing to Friday’s semi-finals and classification matches.

For Eswatini, the immediate task is to make their presence felt against the hosts before facing South Africa in their final group match on Thursday.

The team travelled to Lusaka yesterday after departing Eswatini and passing through OR Tambo International Airport in South Africa.

The Eswatini Handball Association has acknowledged the support of the International Handball Federation (IHF), Confederation of African Handball (CAHB) and Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council in making the historic campaign possible.
