KCB Rugby hold off Kabras RFC to win Embu 7s opening 6-point gap

KCB Rugby held off a late fightback from Kabras RFC to secure a narrow 12-10 victory in a closely contested encounter in the Embu 7s final at Embu Stadium.

This was the fourth meeting between the two sides and their third final meeting of the season. KCB had already secured two victories over Kabras in their previous encounters.

With the win, KCB Rugby have opened a six-point lead over Kabras at the top of the standings, as the National 7s Circuit heads into the final leg of the campaign.

Vincent Onyala opened the scoring for KCB with a try, with Austene Sikutwa adding the extras to give the bankers a 7-0 lead.

Kabras responded through Mike Lukusi, who crossed for an unconverted try to reduce the deficit to 7-5 after Rayvon Ambale missed the conversion.

KCB restored their advantage through Emmanuel Opondo, who added their second try to extend the lead to 12-5.

Kabras mounted a late comeback when Griffin Chao pounced on a loose ball and dived over the line, cutting the deficit to 12-10.

KCB held firm in the closing stages to deny Kabras a late winner and secured a hard-fought 12-10 victory.
