Michael Carrick walked away from Old Trafford on Sunday with one key feat that Manchester United have pulled off under him for the first time since January.
Manchester United have climbed to 10th place in the Premier League table after the Red Devils secured their first points of the 2026-27 campaign at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils fought back in their first home fixture of the new season and Man Utd blew Ipswich Town out of the water in a stunning comeback performance.
The Tractor Boys took a 1-0 lead through Leif Davis in the 29th minute, but United were level against Ipswich by the half-time whistle after Bruno Fernandes’ equaliser.

Manchester United turned up their performance in the second half and the Red Devils were 5-1 up by the 82nd minute of the Premier League contest.
Jacob Greaves turned the ball into his own net to put United 2-1 up early in the second half before Bruno Fernandes netted twice to complete his hat-trick.
Fernandes then chalked up an assist after the 31-year-old Man Utd captain set up Bryan Mbeumo for the Red Devils’ fifth of the contest against Ipswich.
Chuba Akpom pulled one back for the Tractor Boys in injury time, but Man Utd had already secured a comfortable 5-2 comeback win in their Premier League tie.
Based on the 19 Premier League matches that Michael Carrick has overseen since January, the Red Devils put up their highest goalscoring tally on Sunday.
United scored three times in matches against Arsenal, Fulham, Brentford and Brighton under Carrick, but had not netted four or more times until the Ipswich tie.
United manager Carrick will be disappointed that the Red Devils did not keep a clean sheet at the weekend, despite mounting their comeback against Ipswich at home.
However, the Old Trafford result also equalled the biggest goalscoring victory margin for Carrick’s men since he replaced Ruben Amorim in the Old Trafford dugout.
The last time that United had a net goalscoring margin of three in a single Premier League match came in Carrick’s first permanent match as Red Devils boss.
Carrick had succeeded Ruben Amorim on a permanent basis ahead of the final day of the 2025-26 campaign and United defeated Brighton 3-0 at the Amex in May.
