Zelensky protests US 'strange stories' as restrictions impede Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday expressed his frustration over the continued disruption of the United States' assistance Ukraine relies on to bolster its military operations.

Zelensky held a virtual meeting with a bipartisan delegation from the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, during which he articulated Kyiv's exigent needs in the Russian war.

The Head of State urged them to persuade the Trump administration to restore what Ukraine says are restraints on intelligence sharing, satellite access, and weapons deliveries.

In a readout by the presidential office, Zelensky confirmed that his country still faces speed restrictions on Starlink and Starshield services in different parts of the front.

"We still have no explanation for this," the Ukrainian leader told the lawmakers. "Just different strange stories we’re hearing, unfortunately."

He stressed that limitations on the U.S. satellite networks undermine frontline logistics, Ukraine’s mid-range strikes, and its ability to defend against shahed drones.

Zelensky pointed to a recent Russian attack in the Kharkiv region, where six people were killed, saying, "This is how Russia responds to sanctions waivers and reduced pressure."

The President lamented how the first wave of Russian ballistic missile struck without any alert from the American early warning system, the third time in a short period such happened.

He also complained that the Pentagon "is delaying the delivery of missiles that our partners had already paid for...new missile packages are waiting for Pete Hegseth's signature."

Zelensky, however, thanked the United States and other nations and alliances for their support, admitting that "without America, things would be much harder for us."

While Kyiv awaits U.S.-manufactured military equipment financed under the PURL program, European allies also expect American approval to transfer their Patriot interceptors to Ukraine.
