Ethiopian Airlines to Commence Scheduled Passenger Flights to Port Harcourt, Nigeria

Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline group, announced the commencement of its new scheduled passenger service to Port Harcourt, Nigeria, effective 01 December 2026.

The service will further strengthen the Airline’s presence in Nigeria and enhance air connectivity between West Africa and the airline’s extensive global network through its hub in Addis Ababa

“We are pleased to further strengthen our presence in Nigeria with the addition of Port Harcourt, our fifth destination in the country,” Mesfin Tasew, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, said, annoucing the new route that will be operated four times weekly.

“Our continued expansion in Nigeria reflects our commitment to supporting the country’s economic development through enhanced air connectivity.”

Port Harcourt, one of Nigeria’s leading commercial and industrial hubs, serves as a key gateway to the country’s energy sector and broader economic activities.

Nigeria remains one of Ethiopian Airlines’ most significant and longest-served markets in Africa, with the airline launching its first service to the country in 1960.

Today, the airline operates flights to Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Enugu. The addition of Port Harcourt is expected to enhance connectivity and support regional economic activities.

“The new service will provide greater convenience and seamless travel options for our customers while reinforcing trade, tourism, and business links between Nigeria, Africa, and the rest of the world,” the Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO said.
