Data Protection Commission cracks whip on unregistered institutions

The Data Protection Commission has enforced compliance among institutions that have failed to register with it, as part of efforts to protect public data.
The Director of Data Compliance, Quintin Akrobotu, told journalists that the Commission has directed the institutions to complete the required registration process to ensure data protection.
Institutions the Commission has targeted for non-compliance include Nuffield Clinic, Nyaho Medical Centre, Ghana International School, Airport Women’s Hospital and DCI Microfinance.
He warned that institutions that fail to comply will face sanctions under the Data Protection Act.
He urged all data controllers to register with the Commission to safeguard the personal data of their clients and the general public.
