Mother And 2 Children Killed As Suspect Sets Hut Alight In Darwendale Triple Murder

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is investigating a horrific triple murder in which a mother and her 2 children were allegedly killed at Shirleigh Farm in Darwendale on Sunday, 13 September 2026.

The victims have been identified as Abigail Mwale, 26, her 5-year-old child Johanne Maiswa and 7-month-old Jayden Mwale.

The ZRP said an unknown suspect allegedly killed the 3 victims before dragging their bodies into a hut.

According to the police, the suspect then locked the hut from the outside and allegedly set it on fire.

The circumstances surrounding the killings remain under investigation.

Police Recover Items At Scene

Police said several items were recovered from the scene, including a blood-stained white cloth, a white sack, an adze and a pair of socks.

The bodies were taken to ‘O’ Hea Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

The ZRP is appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist investigators to report it at their nearest police station.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to establish what happened and identify the suspect.

The deaths of Abigail Mwale and her 2 children are now the subject of a murder investigation, with police appealing for information that could help identify those responsible.
