Nemanja Matic is now asking important question of Man Utd after Man City guilty verdict

With Manchester City’s guilty verdict, the expectation and demand for their titles to be stripped continues to grow. With Nemanja Matic now adding to the clamour to be acknowledged as a Premier League champion with Manchester United.
As the punishment for Manchester City is awaited, it hasn’t stopped fans and players speculating over the fate of the Premier League titles between 2009 and 2018. David de Gea has stated he wants the title for 2012 and 2018 attributed to Manchester United, assuming City’s place is voided, and he isn’t alone with Rio Ferdinand suggesting United should be on 22 league titles.
United could be awarded the honours, although it is much more likely that they will instead just be made null and void, considering they were earned through illegitimate means. Wayne Rooney admitted he doesn’t want the title as it wouldn’t feel like he actually won it, but does want to see City punished to the fullest extent. Now, Nemanja Matic has had his say on the situation.
Nemanja Matic asks Manchester United for title bonus
Matic joined United in 2017 under Jose Mourinho, and he was a successful signing for the club with plenty of quality shown despite not going down as a legend. However, had he helped United win the 2017/18 league title that would all change.
During that season, Matic was immense as United finished second, behind only City. But Matic is among the former players suggesting, maybe a little cheekily, that he expects a winners’ medal.
Taking to his X account, Matic tweeted out, “I want my title bonus”, with a smiley face, directly in response to a fan who pointed out that Matic’s goal would have been key in helping United win the title.

It was against Crystal Palace in March, the start of the run-in, and Matic scored a screamer on the half volley into the top corner. Had United not been taking on the centurion City side, who are now found to have cheated, then this would also be an immortal moment in which United took a major step toward the title.
Looking back on this season, we didn’t appreciate it anywhere near enough at the time. These were the good times compared to the past three years, and in a fair sporting world, United would have departed the season as Premier League champions in what could have been a double-winning season, as United also lost the FA Cup final.
United are unlikely to be awarded the titles, but with every passing day, the punishment City receive feels more and more likely to be earth-shaking.
