Silver to begin post-Shoes era against Nomads
The second round of the FDH Bank Premiership will kick off on 10 October 2026, featuring exciting opening fixtures spread across the country.
Mighty Wanderers FC will resume their title defense campaign with an away assignment against Silver Strikers, who fired their coach Peter ‘Shoes’ Mgangira, while FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will be at home against league leaders Blue Eagles.
Karonga United will host Civil Service United at Karonga Stadium, and Luanar Mitundu Baptist will face Red Lions at Dedza Stadium.
Ekhaya FC, who recently dismissed coach Enos Chatama despite winning the Airtel Top 8 trophy, will host Kamuzu Barracks.
Creck Sporting, determined to climb from the bottom of the table, will begin the second round with a home match against Moyale FC.
Goshen City Dedza Dynamos will host Masters FC, while Chitipa United are set to welcome Mafco FC.
Blue Eagles lead the table with 31 points, followed closely by FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on 30 points. Mighty Wanderers sit in third place with 29 points, all from 15 games.
At the other end of the table, Mafco FC, Kamuzu Barracks, and Creck Sporting complete the bottom three.
Meanwhile, the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) no longer provides monetary rewards to the team finishing first at the end of the first round.
Previously, that prize was set at K1 million, but it was scrapped when Sulom revised the sponsorship package. The league has since shifted its focus to end-of-season performance and player welfare rather than mid-season rewards.
The biggest incentive now is the K200 million championship prize, making the league more competitive and rewarding at the finish line.
