Mathare United Women are targeting a top-three finish in the Women’s Premier League after securing promotion from the National Super League (NSL).
Midfielder Jerrine Adhiambo says the team is well prepared for the new season and is determined to compete for the league title despite stepping up to the top flight.
Adhiambo believes Mathare can carry the hard work and determination that earned them promotion into the new campaign, while improving their consistency against more experienced opposition.
The midfielder has also set personal targets, hoping to deliver a strong season and earn a call-up to the Harambee Starlets.
“My target is to provide as many assists as possible because playing as a number 10 is not easy. I have set my sights on the national senior team, and I have given myself three matches to see that come through,” she said.
Mathare United Women will now look to establish themselves in the top flight while Adhiambo pursues her ambition of breaking into the national team.
