Testimonies as journalist’s mother is laid to rest in Ukpor

Family, friends and associates on Thursday attended the Funeral Mass for Madam Rebecca Nwadiogo Ojiaku at St Mary Assumed Into Heaven Parish, Umuohama, Ukpor in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State.

Madam Rebecca Nwadiogo Ojiaku is the mother of Anambra State based journalist, Chinonyelum Ojiaku.

In his homily during the funeral mass, Rev Fr Victor Ikechukwu his Bible Reading from Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 Vrs 1-4 and Romans Chapter 14: 7-12, emphasized the need for christians to tailor their lives after the order Jesus Christ.

He declared categorically that death is an end all mortal must experience no matter how long an individual live on planet Earth.

Rev Fr Ikechukwu thanked God for the life led by the mother of the journalist who according to him is common knowledge.

“Even at her old age and frailty she was always early to the mass and other programs of the church, she would not just come on time, she would ensure that she cleaned the whole church.

“When I visited her at the hospital before she departed, she was still asking about the welfare of the church, Madam Ojiaku was not a troublesome person, she was an easy going individual who will always mind her business,” Rev Fr Ikechukwu asserted.

The mass was attended by Very Rev Fr Christopher Nwobu, Rev Fr John Nnadi, Rev Fr Anthony Nwachukwu with Rev Fr Hycent Izuegbu, the Parish Priest of St Mary’s Assumed Into Heaven Parish playing host to other priests and Catholic community home and abroad.

Madam Rebecca Nwadiogo Ojiaku was later interred in her husband Compound at Umungwu, Umuohama, Ukpor in Nnewi South LGA.

Madam Rebecca Nwadiogo Ojiaku’s son, Mr Jude Chukwuwetere Ojiaku in a comment thanked all the family members, friends and associates who came from far and near to identify with them at a time of their mourning.

He however said that the the family is consoled by the fact that the value Mama created, faith she demonstrated and her loving memories will continue to inspire them.

Madam Ojiaku was survived by Virginia Ugomma Chukwuwetere, Mrs Veronica Okonkwo, Chinonyelum Philomina Ojiaku, Omerebere Rebecca Udeagu , daughter in-law, son in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren
