As the 2027 general elections approach, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has charged the people of the South-East to ensure that they perform their civic duty in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
This is as he warned voters in the South-East against playing football when they should be exercising their franchise.
In a video sighted by Sunday Telegraph, the Minister said voters who play football on election day might complain when bad leaders are elected into office.
According to him, President Tinubu would be re-elected despite criticism and insults from some Nigerians.

He said: “Let it not be during voting you are playing football. Then tomorrow you start to come and complain. It is not acceptable.
“I was governor, I was deputy governor. I was a party chairman. Never in the history of the South-East did we witness even five per cent of the federal budget in the South-East. And so we are witnessing this.
“The road is being fixed, and then you just take it for granted. You say it’s what he’s supposed to do. What of the people that are supposed to do it that didn’t do it? Did they give you change?
“If you are insulting us, insulting the president, it doesn’t stop him from winning.”
