Nearly 600 migrants return to Morocco during Ceuta camp clearance

Nearly 600 Moroccan migrants returned voluntarily to Morocco on Sunday as Spanish authorities began clearing the large El Trampolín beach camp in Ceuta, according to EFE.
Cadena SER reported that around 700 people were removed during the first phase of the operation. An earlier estimate put voluntary returns at at least 400, but EFE said the figure had risen to nearly 600 by 7 p.m., citing sources involved in the operation.
Migrants were taken by bus to the Tarajal area, where they could either enter the CATE processing center for identification and placement in reception facilities or cross the border back into Morocco.
The operation remains partial. More than 3,000 people had been living at El Trampolín, and limited reception capacity prevents authorities from clearing the entire camp at once.
