Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou continued his impressive record from the penalty spot, saving another spot kick as Al Hilal defeated Al Khaleej 5-1 in the Saudi Pro League.
The Moroccan goalkeeper stopped a penalty taken by Gambia forward Musa Barrow, helping Al Hilal secure a comfortable victory in the fourth round of the competition.
The save was Bounou’s fifth penalty stop in 13 attempts since joining Al Hilal, according to the figures provided in the report. Across his career, he has saved 11 of 58 penalties.
Al Khaleej has featured prominently in Bounou’s penalty-saving record. The goalkeeper previously saved a penalty against the same club, with Greek midfielder Konstantinos Fortounis taking the spot kick.
Bounou’s other penalty saves have come against prominent opponents including Al Ittihad, Al Ahli and Al Khaleej, as well as Spanish giants Real Madrid during last summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
Since joining Al Hilal from Spanish club Sevilla in the summer of 2023, Bounou has established himself as one of the team’s key players. Al Hilal renewed his contract last October, keeping him at the club through the end of the 2027-28 season.
