US Advocacy Firm Urges Trump to Publish Mineral Deal MoU with Tinubu Govt

A United States advocacy firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has called on the Trump administration to make public the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently signed with Nigeria on critical minerals.

In a post on its verified X handle, the firm said publishing the document would dispel allegations of corruption surrounding the agreement and protect America’s integrity as Democratic lawmakers prepare to scrutinise mineral deals negotiated by the Trump administration.

The US and Nigeria reportedly signed the framework agreement in New York on September 24, covering geological data, mineral exploration, development, processing, infrastructure, and technical capacity.

Von Batten-Montague-York stressed that transparency was essential amid accusations of “pay-to-play” arrangements and concerns over human rights abuses in Nigeria’s mining sector.

It referenced reports of 37 suspected illegal miners who died in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Niger State, noting that Nigerians were questioning the government’s handling of the incident.

“The integrity of the United States is on the line,” the firm stated, urging the US State Department to release the MoU to counter growing allegations of corruption.
