Good morning
Happy month of November to you and your loved ones. Our Top Story for the November edition is the 5th anniversay celebration by the Centre for Black Health, highlighting the University of Ottawa’s research and advocacy in addressing health inequities affecting Black populations in Canada. We also bring you the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers‘ campaign in Ottawa; Rocena Kidney Foundation gala by a community organisation that champions kidney health education and support for Black Canadians; awards ceremony by the **Canadian Women **of Colour Leadership Network; and the Aging Well: 2026 Fall Health Fair hosted by Ottawa Public Health.
Environmental activist and university professor Dr. Andy Kusi-Appiah brings readers another insightful contribution, this time focussing on Housing, Mental Health and the Environment. Our Religion columnist Rev Daniel-Joseph Daniel provides another inspirational sermon: Let God Speak To you Today.
The just concluded Ottawa Municipal elections was rather disappointing for the city’s Black population. Of all the African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) candidates featured in our October 2026 edition, only incumbent **Rawlson King **from Rideau-Rockcliffe, was successful. The other failed to make it, leaving the national capital with the status quo of only one Black city councillor. It is therefore incumbent on ACB community leaders and stakeholders to strategize on ways and means to increase our presence on Ottawa city Council, so it reflects fair representation of our community.
All these and more in the November 2026 edition of your favourite community news magazine.
We love to hear from our readers, so please keep sending your Letters to the Editor with you news and views.
May your month of November be bright and beautiful.
