Mohammed Fuseinis determination to continue his career in England ultimately convinced him to join Derby County, despite interest from several clubs across Europe. The Ghanaian forward joined Derby on a season-long loan from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise on transfer deadline day. The Championship club also secured an option to sign him permanently at the end of the 2026/27 season.Fuseini was in demand during the transfer window, with his agent Max Hagmayr revealing that negotiations had taken place with several clubs.Three English clubs, a team from Frances Ligue 1 and a Bundesliga side all held talks over a possible move for the 24-year-old.Troyes and Birmingham City were among those interested, with Fuseini coming particularly close to joining Birmingham.Birmingham deal had progressed to an advanced stage, with Fuseini travelling to England for his medical ahead of the expected announcement. However, the transfer collapsed before the necessary formalities could be completed.Derby subsequently stepped up their pursuit and reached an agreement to take the forward to Pride Park.Hagmayr said Fuseinis preference for English football was a major factor in choosing Derby over the other options available to him.He wanted to enter English football, and we decided on Derby County, a traditional English team which shows him the best future prospects, Hagmayr told Footy-Africa.The agent also confirmed the extent of interest in his client during the window. We had a lot of interest in Mo. At least we were negotiating concretely with three English teams, one team from Ligue 1 in France and one team from the German Bundesliga, he said. Finally, it happened on deadline day, Hagmayr added.
