Winning start for Peter Ndlovu as he begins his tenure as Scottland head coach

Peter Ndlovu made a winning start to his tenure as Scottland head coach after guiding the reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions to a 1-0 victory over CAPS United on Thursday.

Emmanuel Jalai scored the decisive goal in the sixth minute to hand Mabviravira all three points in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 32 encounter.

Ndlovu was appointed interim head coach following Scottland’s decision to part ways with Norman Mapeza, who left his position with immediate effect after the club’s CAF Champions League exit.

The former Warriors captain now faces the task of keeping Scottland in the title race as they look to defend their league crown.

The victory took Scottland to 64 points, leaving them five behind leaders Hardrock, who sit on 69 points.

However, Scottland have a game in hand over the leaders, giving them an opportunity to reduce the gap as the title race enters its decisive stages.

Meanwhile, the match was officiated by a Kenyan referee following match-fixing allegations that had shrouded the build-up to the highly anticipated clash. The allegations had prompted concerns ahead of the encounter
