Visit of Dr Taslimarif Saiyed, CEO and Director, C-CAMP, to Colombo

Dr Taslimarif Saiyed, CEO and Director of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), visited Colombo from 3 to 4 September 2026.

C-CAMP is a major life sciences research, innovation, and bio-incubation hub based in India. Supported by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, it has been a catalyst for cutting-edge research and innovation in the life sciences since 2009. It supports bioscience research and entrepreneurship by providing research, development, training and services through state-of-the-art technology platforms.

With a view to exploring potential areas of collaboration, Dr Saiyed called on Hon. Professor Chrishantha Abeysena, Minister of Science and Technology, and Hon. Dr Hansaka Wijemuni, Deputy Minister of Health, Government of Sri Lanka. He also met Professor Gomika Udugamasooriya, Senior Advisor on Science and Technology to the President of Sri Lanka.

Dr Saiyed also met key leaders from the Sri Lankan private sector during his visit.

These engagements reflect the sustained deepening of the India-Sri Lanka partnership in Science and Technology, widening the base of scientific exchange.

Dr Saiyed’s visit adds a strong biosciences and entrepreneurship dimension to this partnership, complementing the ongoing collaboration between the two countries in startups, technical education and Artificial Intelligence. It reaffirms the shared commitment of India and Sri Lanka to translating scientific cooperation into tangible outcomes for both nations.
