Man Utd youngster Will Murdock ‘excited’ to join National League side on loan

Will Murdock has signed for Hednesford Town FC in the National League in a loan move that will hopefully aid his development as a young Manchester United goalkeeper.

Manchester United’s loan list has suddenly grown, meaning there are more young players to keep track of for the remainder of the season.

There is a mixture of experienced and youthful players sent out on loan by United this season. From Andre Onana at Trabzonspor to Sekou Kone at Lausanne and Jacob Devaney at Hibernian.

With the list increased, United fans now have a reason to keep an eye on National League outfit Hednesford Town FC.

Just three days after signing his first-ever professional contract at United, Murdock has joined Hednesford Town FC on loan for the remainder of the season. The move will grant the youngster a chance to play regular senior football.

The 19-year-old arrives at Keys Park, adding quality and competition for the club’s goalkeeping department.

After signing the paperwork to join Hednesford Town FC on loan, Murdock told the club’s official website: “I’m really excited to be here, I feel like this is the right club to grow as a person and as a player as well so I’m looking forward to it.

“I think the club is really ambitious after back-to-back promotions. I’ve been at United for 10 years now, I’ve most recently been playing for the under-21s and trained with the first-team every now and again.”

Murdock isn’t the only United academy prospect who has been sent to gain experience in the National League this season. Two months ago, Soloman Honour agreed to join Southport for the entire season.

This is a chance for Murdock to prove himself against senior players, even though it’s levels lower than where he hopes to one day make it as a professional footballer. It’s early days in his career.
