Middle-Belt Group Commends Arewa for Asiwaju Over Structured Mobilisation for Tinubu’s Re-election

The Middle-Belt Progressive Solidarity Forum has commended the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) movement for its structured political mobilisation and grassroots engagement in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Forum described A4A as an emerging political platform that is changing the pattern of political engagement in Northern Nigeria through organised mobilisation, digital advocacy and coordinated communication of the Federal Government’s achievements.

In a statement issued by its Convener, Arc. Joshua Pwajok Panam, the group said the establishment of a national campaign headquarters, deployment of a digital election intelligence and analytics portal, and mobilisation activities across northern states demonstrated a shift from fragmented political support to a more coordinated strategy.

It noted that the movement had adopted both physical and digital approaches to mobilising support, including rallies, the appointment of youth ambassadors, efforts to secure massive participation in campaign flag-off events and the compilation of federal projects across the North.

The Forum also highlighted the growing visibility of the hashtag #ArewaForAsiwaju across social media platforms, noting that northern influencers and content creators, including Abdurahman Leme, Waspapping, Yellow and Kawu Garba, had contributed to amplifying the movement’s message.

According to the group, the digital campaign goes beyond political slogans by highlighting government interventions in infrastructure, security and other sectors, thereby providing an alternative perspective on the administration’s performance in Northern Nigeria.

On security, the Forum acknowledged ongoing efforts under the coordination of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, particularly military and security operations against banditry and terrorism.

It cited the reported neutralisation of prominent bandit commanders, including Halilu Sububu, Boderi Isyaku and Buharin Yadi, alongside the rescue of kidnapped victims and recovery of illegal firearms.

The group also identified improvements in the security situation along some major transportation routes, including the Abuja-Kaduna highway, as well as the surrender of fighters and their families in parts of the North-East.

However, it acknowledged that insecurity remained a significant challenge, stressing that sustained security operations were necessary to consolidate the gains recorded so far.

The Forum further commended the Federal Government’s infrastructure interventions across Northern Nigeria, particularly projects targeting underserved communities in the North-East and North-Central regions.

It specifically mentioned the Bali-Serti-Gashaka-Gembu Road and the Gembu-Mbamnga-Yang corridor in Taraba State, describing them as important projects capable of improving connectivity, facilitating trade and supporting agricultural activities in remote communities.

Other projects highlighted included the Tungo-Karamti Road linking Adamawa and Taraba states, as well as the rehabilitation of the Kashimbila-Takum road corridor.

According to the Forum, these projects, alongside other federal interventions across the North-West, North-East and North-Central zones, have the potential to improve market access, strengthen security logistics and stimulate economic activities.

While acknowledging the economic difficulties associated with the ongoing reforms of the Tinubu administration, the group said A4A’s strategy of presenting immediate challenges alongside longer-term development objectives could promote a more balanced political conversation.

It also expressed support for the principle of political equity and rotational balance, arguing that allowing the current Southern presidency to complete its constitutionally permitted eight-year tenure would promote stability and fairness, following the eight years of northern leadership.

The Forum urged the Arewa for Asiwaju movement to sustain its mobilisation efforts through grassroots engagement, transparent communication and collaboration with other regional stakeholders.

It also praised the movement’s leadership, coordinators and digital advocates, saying their activities demonstrated that political support in Northern Nigeria could be organised through structured engagement and coordinated mobilisation.
