Trump Approves Firing Squad Execution for Army Base Shooter

US President Donald Trump has authorized the execution of former Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan, convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood mass shooting, by firing squad.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell announced the decision on Monday via X, confirming that Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth recommended the measure and Trump approved it.
“Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has recommended and President Donald J. Trump has approved death by U.S. Army firing squad for convicted terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan.
The Secretary of the Army will set the time and place of the execution,” Parnell stated.Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, was found guilty in 2013 of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder after opening fire at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 13 people and injuring 32 others.
He was sentenced to death by a military jury.If carried out, Hasan’s execution would mark the first military execution in the United States since 1961.
No date has yet been announced, with the Army Secretary expected to determine the schedule and location.
