Zambezi region to host Miss Namibia 2027

The Zambezi region has been chosen as the region to host the prestigious Miss Namibia 2027 national beauty pageant.

The announcement of the hosting region ceremony, spearheaded by Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), was launched by Zambezi governor Dorothy Kabula-Simushi at Katima Mulilo on Tuesday.

Omaheke governor Pijoo Nganate, as the previous host of Miss Namibia and Miss Teen Namibia 2026, symbolically handed over the crown to Kabula-Simushi as the incoming host of the national beauty pageants.

Kabula-Simushi expressed her gratitude for being chosen as the next hosting region, saying Miss Namibia is a significant national platform that brings Namibians together.

The region is strategically located, being the gateway to Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Angola.

“These strategic locations, combined with our natural beauty and cultural diversity, make the Zambezi region a fitting destination for an event of this nature. Miss Namibia 2027 will provide us with an opportunity to bring our heritage to the national stage and allow Namibians from all corners of the country and world to experience our rich cultural heritage,” she said.

She added that the national beauty pageant will bring many opportunities for the local youth, as they will participate to gain experience, build networks and showcase their talent.

Kabula-Simushi called upon the local business community, corporate partners and entrepreneurs to come forward to support Miss Namibia 2027.

“The support varies from accommodation, transportation for finalists, hospitality, catering venues and beauty and fashion services,” she said.

“We want Miss Namibia 2027 to make a lasting impact for the Zambezi region. Most importantly, we want the people of the Zambezi region to feel proud to host Miss Namibia 2027. Beyond infrastructure facilities, we have something that cannot be measured in monetary terms, and that is the warm hospitality of the people of the Zambezi region,” Kabula-Simushi said.

NBC board of directors vice chairperson Oaitse van Staden says hosting Miss Namibia 2027 will create opportunities for local performing artists, musicians, dancers, designers, photographers, make-up artists, stylists, event managers, creative practitioners and young entrepreneurs who will participate in one of the country’s most prominent national events.

“Miss Namibia is not only an entertainment event. It is also an economic and creative-industry platform. We will be showcasing the Zambezi region itself, its people, its culture, its tourism potential, its businesses, its creativity and its unique contribution to the Namibian story,” she says.
